Mixed media is a broad, all-encompassing topic which can make it daunting to know where to start. Working exclusively in a sketchbook format, students will explore varied approaches to begin building their journal pages step by step.
Choose one, a couple, or all four days for creative art-making. Students will be engaged in expressive art journaling, learning new techniques with mixed media-including photography, drawing, painting, image transfers, printing and collage.
In this course students will create their own visual art journal starting with their “favorite things” as a theme. What was your favorite vacation? What are your favorite foods? Working in a 6” x 4” sketchbook, students will learn how to begin and create a visual art journal for self-expression.
In a guided process, we will collage our surfaces using paint, handwriting, used postal materials, alphabet stamps and stencils on matboard. Various tips and tricks will be covered for making several art cards at once.
